Can my Guinea Pig eat Winter Squash?

Updated: May 2, 2022

No, this is not recommended.

Can be high in carbohydrates, which can predispose to bloat, digestive upset, or enterotoxemia.

While squashes and other starchy vegetables can be fed, there is a risk that the excessive carbohydrate content causes digestive upset and is best avoided.

Guinea pigs and rabbits should have a variety of at least 5 different types of leafy greens to protect against nutritional excesses and deficiencies. At least 80% of the diet should be a good quality grass or cereal hay.
